Job Specification

A position has arisen for a CNC Programmer to join the Programming department on a temporary basis for approximately 12 months.  The main purpose of this role is to be responsible for the generation and control of CNC Programming data.   

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Tooling and programming of CNC systems
  • Interpreting Engineering drawings for preparation of CNC programmes
  • Preparing all CNC programmes
  • Selecting of machine tools and tooling suitable for running particular components
  • Determining feeds and speeds to give the most efficient economical metal removal
  • Compiling library of programmes and update with Engineering revisions in accordance with Company procedures
  • Making recommendations to Supervisor on improved methods of tooling and implementation of new technology
  • Observing and implementing safe working practices in compilation of CNC programmes
  • Communicating with tool room to determine best selection of tooling

Qualifications and Skills

  • CNC machining experience with a good knowledge of milling, turning and manufacturing  
  • Experience in the Manufacturing or Engineering industry
  • Be able to demonstrate good mathematical and computing skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Good communication skills

Preferred candidates should possess the following:

  • Previous experience with EDGECAM, BRAVO, FANUC, NUMERIPATH 800/8000 programme software
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain work projects in a timely manner
  • Excellent organisational skills    
  • Previous experience within a similar role
